Everyone wants the top SEO position, particularly on Google, but why? Are their other effective traffic methods out there? I don’t know if someone knows of a more effective traffic method, please let me in on it. I have only found that getting traffic from SEO is the most cost effective method there is. I read an ebook the other day claiming that SEO was not worth the time.
How can it not be worth the time? Well it compared Google to the yellow pages. It said that if the listings were constantly moving in the Yellow pages as they do on Google nobody would be buying a yellow pages ad. I completely disagree. I think that if the Yellow Pages had even close to the exposure as the first position for certain keywords, and the way to retain your first listing on the yellow pages was to build one way links to your site, then everyone would be doing it still.
You can’t compare Google to the Yellow Pages, there is no Yellow Pages that can expose a business like position number one for any Google keyword can. If it did have the exposure everyone would invest in Yellow Pages ads. Look at this, when the Yellow Pages were the hot thing, you had a large number of businesses starting with letters close to the front of the alphabet because Yellow Pages listings are in alphabetical order.
My opinion? The people that say SEO is not worth the time, don’t know how to do it so they have decided to sell products that say there is a better way to justify their being.
